SUMMARY:European Urban Resilience Forum
DESCRIPTION:The 13th European Urban Resilience Forum will be held on 17-19 June 2026 in Guimarães\, Portugal. City representatives\, experts\, and stakeholders from local and regional institutions will convene in the city denominated as European Green Capital for 2026 with the shared goal of advancing strategies\, initiatives\, and actions on climate change adaptation\, disaster risk management\, and the strengthening of urban resilience. \nThe focus of the 2026 edition will be on exploring integrated approaches to climate resilience that move beyond adaptation. This is inspired by Guimarães’s long-standing commitment to embedding sustainability into its cultural fabric. Leadership and innovation of small and medium-sized cities will have a central place in the discussions\, exploring their potential to enable bottom-up strategies and offer valuable lessons for climate resilience efforts worldwide through their close connection to citizens. \nEURESFO 2026 will take place at Pavilhão Multiusos de Guimarães.

SUMMARY:Naturance Festival: Seeds of Change
DESCRIPTION:Naturance Festival was a chance for many from different EU-Horizon projects to meet. A main theme was insurability in different shapes and forms and very interesting in connection with BLOSSOM\, where bankability and insurability are the main focus. \nApart from interesting plenum and break out sessions about insurance\, I took part in an interactive break out session about nature credits. Again it stressed the fact that nature credits in the EU is of interest but still have a far way to move. My contribution was in a session called “Seeds of Change”\, where two cities met in an interactive forum. I represented Invest4Nature about financing farm to nature but Invest4Nature is sort of a frontrunner for BLOSSOM\, where we move from grants to investments.

SUMMARY:National Adaptation Hub
DESCRIPTION:The project aims to strengthen the coherence of climate change adaptation actions across Europe. It focuses on improving communication between different levels of governance – from local\, through regional and national\, up to the European Union level. It also seeks to facilitate navigation within the adaptation policy and practice landscape\, identify existing initiatives\, and promote the exchange of practical tools for implementing adaptation measures. \nThe NAH initiative covers 27 EU Member States\, with 32 partners from across Europe forming a consortium of research institutions\, energy agencies\, and organizations involved in climate policy. The project is coordinated by the Regional Energy Agency of Northwest Croatia (REGEA). Through NAH\, Member States will be able to learn from one another\, analyse best practices\, and jointly develop actions to enhance resilience to climate change. \nThe role of IOŚ-PIB (Institute of Environmental Protection – National Research Institute) will be to establish a National Adaptation Centre (Krajowe Centrum Adaptacji). \n“This will be a flexible organizational structure\, bringing together representatives of key national\, regional\, and local authorities\, as well as scientific institutions\, NGOs\, and the business sector”\, says Dr Anna Dubel\, Project Manager at the Climate Change Adaptation Department. \nThe Centre will focus on promoting coherence in climate change adaptation efforts\, as well as on developing and implementing a programme for cross-regional exchange of knowledge\, experience\, and cooperation in adaptation. “The work will be supported by the project helpdesk\, which will provide expert backing and respond to stakeholders’ needs – for example in the areas of knowledge exchange\, identification of good practices\, and coordination of activities between countries” – adds Dr Anna Dubel. \nThe National Adaptation Centre will be aligned with European standards while remaining tailored to national needs. It will draw on existing solutions from adaptation platforms such as Climate-ADAPT\, the Adaptive Greece Hub\, Italy’s ISPRA (Institute for Environmental Protection and Research)\, and the Swedish klimatanpassning.se portal. \nThe National Adaptation Hubs project directly supports the implementation of key European Union climate strategies\, including the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change\, the EU Adaptation Strategy\, the European Green Deal\, and the European Climate Law. \nThe project is funded under the Horizon Europe programme. The total value of the project is €3\,999\,987.50\, with €83\,750 allocated to IOŚ-PIB. \n

SUMMARY:Pathways2Resilience Summit 2026
DESCRIPTION:On 11 February 2026\, the European adaptation community will gather in Budapest to reflect\, connect\, and co-create the future of the EU’s climate resilience journey. \nThe Pathways2Resilience Summit will bring together hundreds of European regional governments\, city mayors\, EU leaders\, and climate adaptation experts. Together\, we will celebrate the achievements of over 100 European regions in charting their transformative adaptation journey with Pathways2Resilience\, one of the flagship programmes under the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change. \nWith the participation of high-level representatives from the European Commission (DG CLIMA\, Mission Adaptation Board)\, the European Committee of the Regions\, European networks and regional and local authorities\, the Summit will spotlight local communities as the heart of climate adaptation\, serving as a platform for policy dialogue and practical exchange. \nIt will also be a moment to celebrate the 100 regions taking part in the Pathways2Resilience programme\, with dedicated side events on 10 and 12 February. \nThis event is co-hosted by Pathways2Resilience and the City of Budapest. \nPlease note that this event is on invitation only.
