Methodological
Approach and Phases
BLOSSOM is a three-phase methodology for integrating climate-resilient Nature-based Solutions (NbS) into European cities and regions.
Phase 1: Preparation and Design
This phase involves forming Communities of Practice (CoPs) to oversee the project, analyze existing policies, and identify best practices. An AI-based platform will be designed and developed to support the generation of “Intervention Models” for climate-adaptive NbS. This platform will help assess climate change risks, develop financial models, and facilitate participatory planning.
Phase 2: Co-creation and Implementation
In this phase, stakeholders and citizens will use the platform to co-create and select “bankable interventions” through workshops and voting on proposed solutions. The selected NbS will then be implemented at demonstration sites, with continuous monitoring and evaluation against predefined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Phase 3: Demonstration, Validation, and Upscaling
The final phase focuses on demonstrating and validating the implemented solutions, assessing their impact using the same KPIs from earlier stages. The project will then develop sustainable business plans, policy recommendations, and strategies for upscaling the successful NbS across other European cities and regions.
